If you conducted some or all of your interviews outside of Strella — through a human moderator, a third-party video tool, or another platform — you can upload those recordings directly into your project. Once uploaded, Strella processes them the same way it handles AI-moderated sessions: transcribing, summarizing, and including them in the full synthesis.

Before you upload

Your setup depends on whether you’re starting a brand-new project or adding to an existing one.
If all your interviews were conducted off-platform and you’re creating a new Strella study to house them:
You must upload and publish your question guide first before uploading any interview recordings. The question guide is what Strella uses to structure its AI synthesis — without it, theme extraction and analysis won’t work correctly.
Once your question guide is published, follow the upload steps below.

Upload your interviews

1

Open the Sessions tab

Navigate to Results > Sessions in your project.
2

Click Upload

Select Upload in the top-right corner of the Sessions tab. This opens the upload panel.
3

Add your video files

Drag and drop your video files into the upload area, or click to browse and select them from your device.
4

Start the upload

Click Upload to begin. Strella will start processing the files immediately.
5

Wait for processing to complete

Processing time depends on video length and file size. Once complete, the uploaded sessions will appear in your Sessions tab alongside any AI-moderated sessions.
Uploaded sessions go through the same AI processing pipeline as AI-moderated sessions — you’ll get a transcript, summary, and AI-generated notes for each one.
