The Responses tab gives you a line-by-line breakdown of every participant interview in your project. Use it when you want to move beyond synthesized themes and look directly at the raw data — searching for specific words, filtering by participant characteristics, or zeroing in on a particular segment before asking Strella a targeted question.

The Responses workflow

1

Open the Responses tab

Navigate to Results > Responses in your project. You’ll see all participant responses displayed line by line, organized by question and participant.
2

Apply filters to narrow your data

Click Filters to open the filter panel. You can filter by:
  • Screener response — show only participants who gave a specific screener answer (e.g., respondents who said they use your product weekly)
  • Session tags — show only sessions you’ve tagged with a particular label (e.g., “New Users” or “Enterprise”)
  • Custom criteria — combine multiple conditions to create a precise segment
Select your filter options and the Responses tab updates immediately.
3

Search by keyword

Use the keyword search bar to filter the visible responses down further. Type any word or phrase, and Strella highlights only the response lines where that term appears. This is useful for quickly surfacing mentions of a specific feature, competitor, or concept.
4

Ask Strella for instant insights

Once you’ve narrowed responses to a useful segment, click Ask Strella — located next to the Filters button. Type a question about the filtered data and Strella returns AI-powered insights drawn exclusively from the responses currently in view.
5

Export to Excel

To share or work with the filtered responses outside of Strella, click the download icon to export the current view as an Excel file. The export reflects whatever filters and search terms you have active.
Combine a session tag filter with a keyword search for highly targeted queries — for example, filter to “Power Users” and search for “onboarding” to see exactly what that segment said about the topic.
Ask Strella operates on the filtered set of responses currently displayed, not your entire project. Apply your filters first to make sure you’re asking questions about the right data.

Filter types at a glance

Filter responses to include only participants who gave a specific answer to a screener question. For example, show only participants who answered “Yes” to “Have you used this product before?” This is useful when you want to compare experienced users to new ones without manually sorting through sessions.
If you’ve added tags to individual sessions (see Segmenting Sessions), those tags appear here as filter options. Select a tag to instantly restrict the view to that participant group.
Combine multiple filter conditions to build a precise segment. For example, filter to participants from a specific screener response and a specific session tag at the same time.
