# Make Sense of Your Research in the Strella Analysis Tab

> Use Objective or Question-by-Question view to explore AI-synthesized themes, save key insights to your board, and compare segments side by side.

The Analysis tab is where Strella turns your raw sessions into structured, actionable insights. As sessions come in, Strella automatically synthesizes participant responses into key themes — organized either around your research objectives or question by question. Use this tab to identify patterns, validate hypotheses, and build the evidence base for your recommendations.

## Choosing a view

The Analysis tab offers two views. Switch between them using the view selector at the top of the tab.

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Objective View">
    The **Objective View** maps your research objectives — the goals you set when you created the study — to the themes Strella finds across participant responses. Use this view when you want to evaluate how well the research answered each of your original questions.

    **Navigate between objectives:**
    Use the **dropdown menu** to switch between your research objectives. Strella displays the key themes associated with each objective.

    **Dive into a theme:**
    Click any key theme to expand it. You'll see:

    * The associated **highlight reel** (video clips of relevant participant moments)
    * **Session notes** from those sessions
    * The overall **sentiment** expressed by participants on that theme

    **Edit your research objectives:**
    You can update your objectives at any time without losing your analysis.

    <Steps>
      <Step title="Open Settings">
        Click the **gear icon** to navigate to your project settings.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Select Research Plan">
        Choose **Research Plan** from the settings menu.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Edit your objectives">
        Update the text of any research objective as needed.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Save">
        Click **Save** to apply the changes. Strella will re-analyze your data against the updated objectives.
      </Step>
    </Steps>
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Question-by-Question View">
    The **Question-by-Question View** analyzes responses question by question (or task by task, or stimulus by stimulus) rather than by objective. Use this view when you want to understand exactly what participants said in response to a specific part of your guide.

    **Navigate between questions:**
    Use the **dropdown menu** to cycle through the questions, tasks, or stimuli in your question guide. Strella displays the key themes for each one.

    **Dive into a theme:**
    Click any key theme to see:

    * The associated **highlight reel**
    * **Session notes** from related sessions
    * Overall **sentiment** for that theme within the question

    <Note>
      The Question-by-Question View is especially useful when comparing how participants responded to different versions of a concept or prototype, since you can isolate responses to a specific stimulus.
    </Note>
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

## Saving key themes to your insights board

In both Objective View and Question-by-Question View, you can bookmark any theme that's particularly relevant or compelling.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Find a theme worth saving">
    Browse through the key themes in either view until you find one you want to keep.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click the star icon">
    Click the **star icon** next to the theme. It will highlight to confirm it's been saved.
  </Step>

  <Step title="View saved themes">
    Navigate to the **Saved** tab within the Analysis section to see all your starred themes collected in one place — your insights board.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  Star themes as you work through the analysis, then use the Saved tab as the foundation for your report. It saves you from hunting through themes again when it's time to write up findings.
</Tip>

## Comparing participant segments with Add Comparison

The **Add Comparison** tool lets you view how different participant groups respond to the same themes — side by side, directly in the Analysis view.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the Analysis tab">
    Make sure you're in the Analysis tab of your project (both Objective View and Question-by-Question View support comparisons).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click Add Comparison">
    Select **Add Comparison** in the top-right corner of the Analysis view.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose your comparison variable">
    Select the variable you want to segment by:

    * **Screener question** (e.g., "Have you used this product before?")
    * **In-call survey question** (e.g., "How would you rate your experience?")
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select your response groups">
    Choose which response options to compare (e.g., *Yes* vs *No*, or *Low* vs *High*). You can select two or more groups.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review the updated analysis">
    Strella automatically filters your themes, charts, and verbatims by the groups you selected. Each piece of content is labeled by segment so you can see at a glance how groups differ.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Toggle or adjust">
    Toggle comparison groups on or off, or switch to a different variable to explore other segmentation angles without leaving the page.
  </Step>
</Steps>

### What you'll see with a comparison active

* **Charts and themes** update automatically to reflect each comparison group
* **Verbatims** are labeled by segment (e.g., "Screener: Experienced Users")
* **Frequency counts and sentiment** appear separately for each group
