# How to Hire Participants for Your Strella Research Study

> Recruit qualified participants through Strella's panel partners or invite your own candidates—complete setup guide for both paths.

Getting the right participants into your study is the foundation of good research. Strella supports two recruiting paths: ordering participants from a vetted external panel, or sharing a direct link with your own candidate pool. Follow the steps below for whichever method fits your project.

    Strella connects with **[Respondent.io](https://www.respondent.io/)** and **[User Interviews](https://www.userinterviews.com/)** to give you instant access to millions of participants worldwide.

    ## Get started

    Navigate to the **Recruit** page, open the **Participants** tab, and click **Hire participants**.

    ## Step 1 — Choose your audience type

    Select whether you want to recruit everyday consumers or business professionals.

    | Audience Type      | Best for                                               |
    | ------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------ |
    | **Consumer (B2C)** | Products or services used by the general public |
    | **Business (B2B)** | Decisions made by professionals in a workplace context |

    <Tip>
      Not sure which to pick? Ask yourself:

      * Who will ultimately use this product or service?
      * Is this a work-related decision or a personal one?
      * Are you studying industry trends or consumer habits?

      If the answers point to job titles, company types, or professional workflows, choose **Business (B2B)**. If they point to everyday life, go with **Consumer (B2C)**.
    </Tip>

    ## Step 2 — Set your audience filters

    Narrow your pool to participants who match your study's needs. You have two options:

      <Tab title="AI Auto-Fill">
        Describe your ideal participant in plain language and Strella will automatically populate the filters for you. This is the fastest way to configure a precise audience without manually reviewing every option.
      </Tab>

      <Tab title="Manual Filters">
        Go through each filter category and make your selections:

        1. **Research topics** — The subjects or areas most relevant to your study
        2. **Location** — Country, region, or city
        3. **Household income** — Income brackets
        4. **Gender** — Gender identity options
        5. **Education** — Highest level of education completed
        6. **Ethnicity** — Ethnic background
        7. **Age range** — Minimum and maximum participant age
      </Tab>
    </Tabs>

    ***

    ## Step 3 — Write your study title and description

    Participants see your study title and description when deciding whether to apply. Make both clear and engaging to attract the best candidates.

    <Tip>
      Be specific about what the study involves and how long it takes. Honest, interesting descriptions consistently produce higher apply rates.
    </Tip>

    ## Step 4 — Review and confirm your order

    On the order confirmation page, fill in the remaining details:

    * **Number of participants** — How many completed interviews you need
    * **Incentive** — The payment participants receive for completing the study
    * **Auto-invite** — Toggle on to automatically invite participants as they qualify, or leave off to review and approve each one manually

    When everything looks right, check out using a credit card. This launches recruitment immediately.
